Leiston will be looking to get back to winning ways tomorrow afternoon after losing their unbeaten league record at Tonbridge Angels on Tuesday evening, writes CRAIG COOPER

Tomorrow’s visitors to Victory Road are Folkestone Invicta, who were defeated by Slough Town 1-0 in the FA Cup last Saturday, but bounced back by defeating Leatherhead in the league 3-0 on Tuesday night.

Leiston boss Glenn Driver, while happy with his team’s start to the campaign, was disappointed in the way the unbeaten run came to an end on Tuesday: “It’s been an amazing start to the season and to go 11 league matches unbeaten was a great effort from the squad.

“However, on Tuesday night I was disappointed with how our first league defeat came about,” he said.

Tuesday night’s lose at Tonbridge was the first time Leiston had lost at the Longmead Stadium.

On three previous occasions, the Blues had won twice and drawn once.

“Too many players had an off day and we didn’t compete as well as I know we can, although we had a couple of good chances at the end to salvage a point and had a penalty turned down,” Driver added.

“But the players trained well on Thursday and we look forward to putting things right on Saturday.’

Leiston start the weekend in third place in the Bostik Premier table after Hendon and Dulwich Hamlet overtook them in the week.

After tomorrow’s match, Leiston visit Enfield Town on Tuesday before welcoming Folkestone back next weekend in the FA Trophy First Qualifying Round.

Last season, Leiston lost to tomorrow’s opponents Folkestone Invicta away from home but beat them in the return fixture 2-1.

Leiston Reserves head to Norfolk to face King’s Lynn Reserves, full of confidence after a good win at Henley Athletic in the Suffolk Senior Cup last week.

Leiston U-18’s lost 1-0 to Cambridge City U-18’s after extra time in the FA Youth Cup in midweek. They went down to a goal in the 101st minute header from Harvey Bullin. It’s the second year in a row that they have lost in the third and final qualifying round.

There were also FA Youth cup defeats for Woodbridge, who lost 2-0 to Bishop’s Stortford and AFC Sudbury, who were beaten 5-2 at Cheshunt.
