SKIPPER David Head scored a late winner to send Leiston into the quarter-finals of the FA Vase on Saturday.
Head rose at the far post to head home Gareth Heath’s left-wing corner in the 90th minute to complete a come-from-behind 2-1 victory for the Ridgeons League Premier Division leaders against Long Buckby.
The United Counties League visitors had gone ahead in the 33rd minute when Ashley Robinson slid home Fazel Koriya’s right-wing cross.
Leiston had levelled in the 70th minute, when Stuart Boardley’s inswinging right-wing corner was punched into his own net by keeper Tom Stephanou.
Michael Brothers then thumped a drive again the foot of the far post before Head put Leiston in front, but there was still time for Dan Quigley to send a 25-yard free kick against the bar as the visitors nearly forced extra time.
