LEISTON football club have received a double boost with a new signing and major new sponsor.

LEISTON football club have received a double boost with a new signing and major new sponsor.

The Victory Road side, who will be playing in the Ryman League Premier Division next season, have swooped to sign former Ipswich Town youth team player Seb Dunbar, and have also announced Red 7 Marine as their new main kit sponsor.

Former Stoke High School, Ipswich, pupil Dunbar came through the Blues’ academy ranks and was among a number of scholars who were offered professional contracts.

A regular in the reserves Dunbar was unable to push on into the first-team squad however.

Leiston boss Mark Morsley said: “Seb became available last week and I felt it was a signing that would be a good one for us.

“We have agreed a two-year deal and with his football grounding done exclusively with Ipswich Town he brings something a bit different to the left side of defence.

“He is only 20 and see’s his next challenge with us. Having worked with Steve Foley that has also helped and I spoke to various members of the coaching staff at Portman Road about him and the reports were very positive; he was very unlucky not to get a long professional contract.”

Meanwhile, Red 7 Marine will take over as main kit sponsors from Victory Car Sales, who have served the club for 11 years.

Red 7 Marine are a leading provider of Offshore Oil and Gas and Marine Renewables products and services, Maritime and Inland Subsea Engineering and Marine Engineering services, and operate from a number of bases within the UK, including Ipswich.

Leiston chairman Andy Crisp said: “As Chairman I am delighted to welcome Nick Offord and his company to be our main kit sponsor and look forward to working with a successful local company such as Red 7 Marine.

“As a Director of Victory Car Sales, we will still continue to sponsor and support Leiston FC. It’s healthy to see other companies committing such sponsorship to our football club, its a measure of how far the club has come over the past couple of years.”

Having secured three awards at the Ryman League banquet recently, as well as announcing new sponsors, things are looking bright at Leiston, as they embark on their first-ever season at Step Three.
