Leiston 3 Kirkley & Pakefield 1

Leiston progressed to their second Suffolk Premier Cup final in three seasons, but they were made to work hard for it against a resilient Kirkley & Pakefield, before running out 3-1 winners at Lowestoft tonight.

The Thurlow Nunn side struck first with a goal in the second minute. A cross was met by the head of Kyle Haylock, which looped over Marcus Garnham via a post.

Just three minutes later, and Joe Marsden’s delivery was turned in by Christy Finch. Patrick Brothers fired over before Leiston took the lead in the 25th minute. This time, Finch turned provider for Jake Reed to net his fifth goal for the club. Adam Rix then superbly palmed Reed’s header round a post.

In the second half, Kirkley had a lot of the ball and Garnham brilliantly tipped over Lopez’s effort. Kyle Baker was booked for a poor challenge on Marsden as both teams made late substitutions. In the third minute of injury time, Seb Dunbar set up Finch to seal Leiston’s place in the final, where they will play Bury Town.
