Brazilian midfielder Lucas has admitted he will consider his future if he fails to get more action this season.

In two years Lucas, 22, has started only 25 league games since Liverpool paid Gremio 6million to land him.

Now Corinthians are keen to take him back to Brazil - and Lucas has hardly moved to quash the rumours.

He said: “You have to see what Benitez plans but the president of Corinthians already knows I am interested and what I want.”

Lucas is believed to have held talks with Corinthians chief Andre Sanches, who has claimed the negotiations “are progressing well.”

Any hopes the Samba star had of becoming a regular in the wake of Xabi Alonso's 30m move to Real Madrid were rocked when the Reds swiftly agreed a deal for Roma's Alberto Aquilani.

The Italian, 25, is expected to complete a 20m move after a medical today.

He said: “Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world. It'll be fantastic to play with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres.”
