JIM Magilton was today unveiled as Ipswich Town manager, with Bryan Klug stepping up from the Academy to become his assistant.
David Sheepshanks told a packed Portman Road press conference that the board did not see the appointment as a gamble. “We see it as a bold and progressive move, representing both continuity and change.
“With the expert assistance of Bryan Klug, who is qualified as one of the top coaches in England at UEFA Pro license level we are confident that we have installed a winning partnership.
“I hope all Town fans, past, present and future, will join together and back them to the hilt.”
Magilton, when asked if he would be back at Portman Road as a player, said: “Listen, one shock at a time! Remember we're trying to get people into the stadium. I will be playing but it will be in the reserves and not in every game.
“In my book talk is cheap, I want to teach and cajole players and show them how senior players should conduct themselves.”
See tomorrow's EADT for the full story of Jim's first press conference, and the reasons why he was appointed.
