Magpies Ladies IV 1 Sprowston II 1
AFTER last week's postponed match, Magpies took a while to really get into the game, and Sprowston took full advantage of this and took the lead early on after Magpies' keeper Kristina Erith had made some good saves. The score remained at 1-0 during the first half, Magpies getting more into the game, creating some chances, but could not convert.
The second half found Magpies fighting for the equaliser, Laura Schultheiss, Tracy Reeve and Laura Gilbert in the midfield combining well and playing some good balls up to the forward line. Sprowston continued to fight hard to keep their lead, their defence battling with the Magpies' forwards, resulting in a harshly awarded green card for Magpies' Kay Dennis. Just as it looked like the home side were out of it, a good run to the back line and sharp pass back in front of the goal found Laura Gilbert to score the very well deserved equaliser in the dying minutes.
Magpies certainly deserved the draw, and did well to keep their heads playing against a difficult Sprowston side. However, they must get back to winning ways next week.
