Harleston Magpies Under-18 girls just missed out on a semi-final place at the Indoor National Finals at Birmingham.
Magpies did not start well in the tournament, losing their opening game 6-4 to Wycombe High School (Jess Bloom 3, Artemis Clark), in a game where they kept taking the lead but then defended poorly as a team.
Against Bradford they showed far greater composure and ran out comfortable winners 5-0 (Jess Bloom 3, Artemis Clark 2).
On Sunday, Magpies produced an impressive performance to beat Millfield School 9-2 (Artemis Clark 7, Jess Bloom 2), which left them in a great position to qualify for the semi-finals as long as they did not lose their last game to Bromsgrove School.
Unfortunately Bromsgrove proved too strong as Magpies went down 5-1 (Artemis Clark).
Team: Jess Bloom, Hannah Coulson, Alice Nutbourne, Ellie Blake, Jess Hull, Artemis Clark, Frances Taylor and Amelia Thomson.
