CHRIS Makin will sign a new deal with Leicester this weekend - the day after Town stop paying his wages, writes Derek Davis. Makin failed to report back for training the day after his contract officially ended on July 1 and went to the Foxes on trial.

He played half a dozen pre-season games for City with Ipswich paying his salary all month, as they are contractually obliged to do with all players while they are looking for new employment.

City boss Micky Adams last night finally admitted he wanted to sign the defender but said he would have to wait until chief executive Tim Davies and football director Dave Bassett returned, which, co-incidentally will be at the end of the week.
