ROBIN Mann cleared the first hurdle in the PGA European Seniors Tour School at Quinta de Cima on the Eastern Algarve.

The Felixstowe Driving Range professional, Suffolk PGA champion on 13 occasions in the past, had two shots to spare in stage one after rounds of 75 and 76 on a course that was playing long. Three other PGA East Region players also qualified for this week's final stage at Pinta Golf Club. They were Glyn Krause, Mitch Kierstenson and Bill McColl.

Victor Garcia, Sergio's father, missed cut at Pinheiros Altos, the other venue being used.

Mann needs to finish in the top 14 at Pinta to re-establish his place on the PGA Seniors Tour. He is drawn to play with Jean Pierre Sallat and Bill Hardwick in the first of four rounds today.
