Mildenhall's new No. 1, Mario Jirout, pictured below, officially received his Fen Tigers race-jacket from team manager Laurence Rogers and signed his contract at the indoor Telford Ice meeting last weekend.
Despite missing out on retaining his British Open Championship crown at the event, the 30-year-old Czech international received a huge welcome from the Mildenhall supporters who had made the trip to support their new star.
Jirout, who will be based at King's Lynn during the season, rode at No. 1 for the Rest of the World side that was beaten comfortably 53-25 by England. He made it to the semi-finals in the Pairs event with Tom Brown before bowing out. He then relinquished his individual Open title to former Fen Tigers' league and cup winning captain, Wayne Broadhurst.
