An extremely young Blues side, with an average age of 20, took to the field at Selhurst Park and Mick McCarthy’s kids did the club proud.
Their resistance was finally broken after 76 minutes when James McArthur scored, before the Scot added a second eight minutes later.
Bersant Celina grabbed a consolation for Ipswich, who handed seven youngsters their professional debuts.
