Former Ipswich Town striker Michael Chopra is on trial at League One club Port Vale.
The Stoke Sentinel reports that the 31-year-old is one of a number of players the 11th place club are looking at.
Chopra – a £1m signing by Paul Jewell – scored 19 goals in 82 appearances during a turbulent two years at Portman Road.
The former Newcastle and Sunderland front man joined Blackpool on a free transfer but was released at the end of his first season having failed to score in six starts and 13 substitute appearances.
Chopra, whose father is Indian, then joined Indian Premier League side Kerala Blasters. He claimed that he wanted to be Indian football’s Sachin Tendulakr, the cricket legend the owner of the club, but has returned to England after just seven months.
