BRITISH Youth Champion Nathan Stoneman has been unveiled as the final member of the 2012 Mildenhall Fen Tigers line-up.

The West Country based 15-year-old agreed a deal to come to Suffolk and now can’t wait to get started.

“It’s a brilliant move for me and I know I’ll learn so much working with people like Chris Louis, Michael Lee and Kevin Jolly. It’ll be great to be part of a team for the first time and I’m looking forward to working hard and having a laugh with the rest of the boys. Even though he isn’t much older that me, I know I can learn a lot from guys like Cameron Heeps.” Stoneman isn’t put off that he’ll be forming a ‘novice’ reserve partnership with other teenage new boy Josh Bates. “Although I don’t know Josh that well yet I’ve ridden in the same junior meetings as him, so I’m sure we can build a great partnership together.”

Co-promoter Michael Lee is also delighted to have got his man. “As everyone knows, we had originally said we would be announcing the name of the last rider at Press and Practice later this month. But when we knew we had got someone with Nathan’s talent signed up we decided to get the good news out there as soon as possible.”

Lee continued, “His record in junior speedway speaks for itself and he is just the sort of rider we plan to develop here at Mildenhall. We want to bring the best young British talent to West Row and by signing Nathan and Josh we are doing just that. Some might think it’s a risk to have two young lads making their debuts for us at reserve but we are convinced that both of them have got what it takes.”

Meanwhile Lee has also been reflecting on the winter Academy days staged by the club over the last few weeks. “We’ve had some good days but the weather hasn’t helped at times and it was disappointing to have to cancel last Sunday. The rest of the meetings where we were able to run have been excellent. The one down side came on Saturday, when Sam Woods took a heavy fall and broke his ankle. We are gutted for him and hope to see him back here when he is fit and well again.”

Fans will get their first chance to see the new look Fen Tigers team at the Press and Practice Day on Sunday 18th March starting at 1pm. In the evening there will be a ‘Fen Tigers Quiz Night’ at Judes Ferry, West Row, starting at 6.30pm. All fans are invited to come along to have some fun with the Tigers and also welcome back Cameron Heeps and Joe Jacobs from Australia. There will be prizes for the winners of each round, and a prize for the overall winning team. Maximum of 5 people per team with 2.00 entry fee per team member.
