SIMON Charlton has resigned as Manager of Ridgeons League Premier Division side Mildenhall Town.

Charlton, who played for Bolton, Southampton and Norwich among his Football League clubs, is leaving due to “unforeseen circumstances and opportunities” which will involve him in relocating in the near future.

Club chairman Martin Tuck commented: “I would like to thank Simon for the great input he had to our club during his time with us. He is certainly a great coach and I was most impressed with the professionalism he showed in every aspect of our working relationship.

“Our club obviously has to move on now and already there has been a great deal of interest in the position that has now become available.

“We hope to make an appointment within the next few days, so that the new manager will be able to get involved with the players at pre-season training as soon as possible.”
