Miller weighs up options

AMBITIOUS Justin Miller is going to take his time sifting through offers before embarking on a new career away from Portman Road, writes Derek Davis.

Leyton Orient, Hartlepool, Bournemouth and Carlisle have already shown more than a passing interest in the 22-year-old central defender.

Miller was among a group of players told by Blues boss Joe Royle that they would be made available on free transfers as part of some serious cost-cutting.

Royle watched Miller play in the reserves' 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Wednesday and was told yesterday morning that he could talk to other clubs.

Orient boss Paul Brush would love to take Miller back after a successful three-month loan spell at Brisbane Road at the beginning of the season but Town's reserve team captain is taking a cautious approach.

Miller said: "I will wait a while to see what my options are and then decide.

"I enjoyed my spell with Orient but really I'm looking to play in a higher division, if possible.

"I'm determined to go somewhere and really prove myself and progress so one day I will show Joe Royle that he was wrong to let me go."

Blues boss Joe Royle wished Miller well and added: "Justin is 22 now and not in the first-team squad so it is better he tries elsewhere."

Paul Brush said: "Justin's obviously someone that we're interested in but I've already spoken to Colin Suggett and he says there are a number of other clubs interested too.

"Justin did very well in his time at Orient but our chairman's away until next week anyway so we will just have to see what happens."

Lee Beevers and Steve Burton are also included in the clear out, while Richard Logan has gone to Boston United.
