IPSWICH speedway supporters had some good pre-Christmas news when popular Pole Robert Miskowiak revealed he has signed his 2007 Witches contract.

There has been no official word from the Foxhall Stadium-based Elite League club, but Miskowiak has confirmed that he will be staying with the Witches for a third season.

“Yes, I will be riding for Ipswich next year, and I have signed the contract,” said Miskowiak, who is friendly with fellow Pole Marcin Rempala and the pair are expected to stay together just outside Ipswich during the speedway season.

“I am very happy, as this is what I wanted. I will ride in Poland of course, but riding for Ipswich will be very important to me again. And very important to my career.”

Ipswich now look as though they have two places left to fill in their side with Chris Louis, Mark Loram and Rempala certain starters along with former world under-21 champion Miskowiak, while young German Toni Kroner is expected to fill one of the reserve berths with an assessed three point average.

If this is the case, the Witches have over 13 points to play with to complete their side.

Piotr Protasiewicz is surely ruled out from last season's team, while Daniel King appears to be interesting Peterborough.

Kim Jansson is a third 2006 Ipswich rider whose British future is in doubt and it might be that Ipswich feel a year out on loan might benefit the Swede.
