Mistley Cricket Club have lined up an exciting fixture to close their annual cricket week, with an MCC Ladies’ XI taking on a Mistley Ladies XI today.

The fixture comes after an MCC men’s side visited last year as part of the opening of Mistley’s new, extended pavilion.

Mistley Chariman of Trustees Martin Favell explained how this year’s fixture came about: “The money for the pavilion extension came from the ECB to help improve and promote ladies’ cricket,” he said.

“After the success of the men’s fixture last year, we thought this game would be the perfect way to continue our relationship with the MCC and we are very grateful their ladies’ side have agreed to come down”

After victory against the MCC in last year’s game, Mistley will be hoping to keep their record going. “We must be one of the only sides to be unbeaten against the MCC, maybe we shouldn’t be playing this game!” joked Favell.

The match will take place today at Mistley Cricket Ground, New Road, Mistley, starting at 11am.
