Supporters of Ipswich Town and Rangers have been reacting to our story that the two clubs have agreed a fee close to £1m for striker Joe Garner.

The 29-year-old was a prolific goalscorer in League One for Preston North End, but has never reached double figures in the Championship playing for the likes of Nottingham Forest, Watford and the Lilywhites.

He moved to Scottish club Rangers for £1.8m last summer under the management of Mark Warburton but, having scored 10 goals in his debut campaign at Ibrox, has been allowed to move on as new boss Pedro Caixinha looks to recoup some money and build his own squad.

Town legend Terry Butcher, who watches a lot of his former club Rangers as a television pundit, said recently that signing Garner ‘wouldn’t be one I’d be excited about’, adding ‘he’s just not the sort of player Ipswich need’.

There’s been a mixed reaction on Twitter from supporters of both Ipswich and Rangers about the potential switch.
