Ipswich Town strikers Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick have been named in Martin O’Neill’s provisional squad for the Republic of Ireland’s clashes with Germany and Poland next month.
A squad of 40 players have been named, with a trim scheduled before the games on October 8 and 11.
As well as the Ipswich Town duo, O’Neill has included Everton’s Darron Gibson, who has returned to training from injury, and the uncapped trio of Alan Judge, Eunan O’Kane, and Adam Rooney.
Murphy has so far won 16 caps and McGoldrick two, with both yet to score for their countries.
