ANDY Murray’s hopes of winning the Australian Open ended in bitter disappointment today.
Murray, aiming to become the first British man to win a Grand Slam title since 1936, was soundly beaten in three straight sets by Novak Djokovic.
The Serbian dominated the final in Melbourne to win 6-4,6-2, 6-3 in Melbourne.
It was the 23-year-old Scot’s third unsuccessful attempt to win a Grand Slam event, having lost in two previous finals at the 2008 US Open and the 2010 Australian Open.
