Needham Market entertain Folkestone Invicta tomorrow afternoon in a Bostik Premier clash, hoping third time will be lucky, writes Mike Bacon.
The clash with the Kent side is the third home game in a week for Richard Wilkins’ team but they have yet to record a win after two successive draws – one with Met Police, the other with Leatherhead on Tuesday night.
It’s tight at the bottom of the table and with away games at Brightlingsea and Wingate & Finchley to come next week, three points would be very useful for the Marketmen.
They currently sit on 21 points, sixth bottom, but only on goal difference, with second bottom Tooting & Mitcham also on 21 points.
Worthing are bottom on 17, but are improving. With only one team going down from Bostik Premier this season, it could turn into quite a scrap – one Needham would like to get away from.
Lowestoft Town could do themselves – and Needham – a big favour should they beat Harlow (another on 21 points) tomorrow afternoon. Two wins in their last three games have done the Trawlerboys a power of good of late and with the big local derby at Leiston coming up on Boxing Day, another victory will put them in good heart.

In Bostik North, Bury Town face a tough test at leaders AFC Hornchurch.
Ben Chenery’s side keep drawing matches (five of their last six), it’s the main reason they are not in a play-off place.
There is plenty of talent however in the Bury line-up and their away form has been pretty good – a win tomorrow would be quite a scalp.
Dean Greygoose’s Mildenhall Town travel to Ware tomorrow afternoon – ‘Hall another side on the back of a succession of league draws, this time three.
The Recreation Way side would have liked more than just a point at bottom-placed Romford last week. But tomorrow have an opportunity to get a first league win since the middle of October.
AFC Sudbury entertain Dereham Town at King’s Marsh Stadium. A late Ollie Peters goal on Tuesday night salvaged a draw for Mark Morsley’s side against Hertford Town but Sudbury can’t get any momentum at the moment.
Attacking midfielder Ryan Horne has joined Morsley’s squad after signing from St Neots.
