SPORT 4 Choice is a brand new initiative from the Ipswich Town Community Trust aimed at providing Suffolk's adults with the chance to access a FREE life-changing education programme.

Kicking off in January 2007 this FREE literacy and numeracy course, delivered with a strong sporting theme, is funded through the Learning and Skills Council and the European Social Fund.

The unique learning facilities based in Ipswich Town's very own Study Support Centres at Portman Road, Ipswich; The National Stud, Newmarket and Oulton Broad near Lowestoft, all include state of the art computers suites and mean Sport 4 Choice is accessible to adults from all across the county.

The sporting environments within which Sport 4 Choice is delivered gives the learning experience a unique feel, miles apart from the usual adult education experience offered within schools and colleges.

Amongst the sport themed literacy and numeracy activities that learners can expect to take part in are…

Match report writing in the press box;

Analysing Ipswich Town's match statistics in an executive box;

The opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of the press and try their hand at interviewing using the Club's Media Suite;

Learning how to use the Internet in Ipswich Town's very own computer suite.

Sport 4 Choice will offer learners the opportunity to work towards a Nationally Recognised Qualification. So whether they simply want to enhance their own skills for personal reasons or whether they want to increase their employment opportunities, this is the course for them.

Courses begin in January and February 2007 with both daytime and evening sessions available to meet the needs of as many people wishing to take part as possible.

If transportation and/or childcare costs are an issue for learners, then we may be able to help. Potential learners shouldn't let these cause problems if they would like to take part.

Should adults wish to find out more about Sport 4 Choice then they can join us on Tuesday 5th December at 7pm when an introduction to the programme will be held within the Sir Alf Ramsey Suite at Portman Road.

To attend this meeting or to ask any more questions about the programme learners should contact the Sport 4 Choice Helpline on 01473 400589 and we'll be pleased to answer any questions you may have.
