Felixstowe & Walton have secured the services of Peter Trevivian as Head of Coach and Player Development, writes Barry Grossmith.

Until earlier this year he held the same position at West Ham United.

Peter’s involvement at the club means there is a real buzz around the Dellwood Avenue who are set to take their first steps at Step 4 football this season.

Peter started his career as a player at Southampton and Hereford before joining Ipswich Town as a coach in 1982.

After similar roles at Southend and Watford, alongside Gianlucca Vialli, he then took the position of Regional Coach Development Manager and Senior FA Youth Coach Developer with the FA from 2005 to 2015.

So what exactly will he bring to the club?

Speaking to Seasiders TV, Peter said: “The idea is to improve the coaches in order to improve the players,” adding that he hopes to “encourage coaches to try new ideas and learn new things,” pointing out that the idea of developing coaches in this manner “has only happened in the last three years and hadn’t been done anywhere in Europe before.”

Joint Seasiders’ manager Ian Watson said: “So often, coaches get their badges and are then left to their own devices to get on with it.

“If coaches are developed the right way, then players will develop the right way.

“f you’re bringing youngsters through who can step up to first-team level eventually, and they’ve been coached the right way, as one club, they know what to expect when they break through.”

“We’ve got someone who’s got a vast wealth of experience joining us at Felixstowe and Walton.”
