COPDOCK & Old Ipswichians new electronic scorebox was officially opened by the widow of former club chairman Peter Boulter.
The scorebox, which has been built on the site of the old one also dedicated to his memory, was opened by Jean Boulter in the presence of her two sons, Stuart and Ian, last Friday.
It is 27 years ago last month that Peter passed away, and a Twenty20 match between a Copdock XI and Ipswich Greyhounds XI - his two former clubs - was played after the opening to mark the occasion. Mick Croton skippered the Greyhounds side to a four-run win with three balls to spare against the club side led by Stuart Boulter.
The new scorebox cost �14,000, although it effectively only cost the club �1,500 due to some materials being supplied free of charge, cash donations and fund-raising.
Martin Taylor, who is the club’s development manager, said: “Peter was a very important figure in our history, and we felt it would be inappropriate to change that, so the new scorebox has also been dedicated to his memory.”
The old scorebox has been refurbished and is now being used by Ipswich CC at their Clay Hall ground.
