STOWMARKET Town have been rocked by the departure of manager Louis Newman.

The former Hadleigh United boss stood down as manager of the Ridgeons League Division One side following discussions with club chairman Neil Sharp yesterday.

A clash of hours spent at work, and the hours needed to run the club, was cited as the reason for Newman's surprise departure.

Newman was appointed manager at Greens Meadows by former chairman Andrew Horrex in January 2008.

Last season saw Stowmarket enjoy probably their best season league-wise since being relegated from the Premier Division.

They also pulled off a shock victory over holders and neighbours Needham Market in the Ridgeons League Cup.

Sharp said he thanked Newman for all his hard work at Stowmarket, and wished him well for the future, but said the club need to make an appointment as soon as possible. Any interested parties should contact Sharp on 07747 774030.

Assistant manager, John Griffin has been installed as caretaker manager in the meantime, and he can be contacted on 07867 830836.
