Ipswich’s Jake Nicholls has a busy schedule now that the season gets underway. Nicholls will be sponsored by Hitachi, who have reverted back to the Austrian built KTM 450cc machines under the KTM UK banner.

This Saturday is the first round of the MXGP World Championships in Qatar, where the purpose-built desert circuit will be staged under floodlights. On Sunday, March 5, round two takes place at a new venue in Indonesia, then Nicholls will be flying back to the UK for the first round of the British championships at Culham, in Oxfordshire, on March 12, before the long haul to Patagonia in Argentina for the third World round – round four is in Mexico. The Suffolk rider is one of the favourites for the British title this year, with all eight rounds to count in the domestic series. Local fans will be able to see him in action at two of the British rounds, at Lyng, in Norfolk on April 9, and at round six at Blaxhall on July 16.
