JAKE Nicholls' hopes of a successful ride at the forthcoming British round of the World Motocross Championship have been dealt a mighty blow after he sustained a broken arm during a practice session on Tuesday.

The Ipswich-based ForkRent Suzuki rider, who has been performing well in the World series, was looking forward to competing in the British round of the World MX2 class, which is scheduled to take place on August Bank Holiday Sunday at Donington Park in Derbyshire.

Seventeen-year-old Nicholls is now due to go into surgery tomorrow and it is still unclear as to how long the young hopeful will be out of action.

See Bike Torque - the EADT's motorcycle sport column - in this coming Tuesday's EADT for the full interview with Nicholls.
