THERE will be no fear factor in the Chelmsford City dressing room according to Glenn Pennyfather ahead of his team's home clash with Blue Square Premier side Crawley Town tonight, kick-off 7:45pm, the Clarets' Head Coach believing his side is capable of causing a Melbourne upset in the FA Trophy.

Both sides harbour aspirations of promotion from their respective divisions and have a place in the final 16 in their sights against Oxford United or Woking, as well as 6,000 of prize money in this Second Round showdown. Pennyfather believes the impressive sequence of results his team has accumulated is there to be shot at, but his squad won't play with the apprehension of that run coming to an end against Steve Evans' mean.

“I don't think a loss would do much damage to our spirit as we have so much desire in the dressing room,” he claimed of his team which has tasted defeat just twice in 21 competitive league and cup encounters since 10th October. “The players are always out to rectify any mistakes they make and want to do well, including in the FA Trophy, as they're eager to pit themselves against the better players in non-league football.”

Ambitious Crawley had their match at Chester City postponed at the weekend though Glenn is aware of the talents they can boast, including former Southend United striker Charles Ademeno. He added: “I used to watch Charles in Southend's reserves and he had potential and sometimes you have to step away in order to make two steps forward like Michael Kightly. Crawley will be a dangerous side with their sights set on a play-off place if they can put a good run together. Playing on Saturday could be an advantage for us but they train full-time and will have had all their work done beforehand.”

Of his own squad, Pennyfather was pleased to see stalwart centre-half Steve Ward make his 150th appearance for the Clarets in Saturday's 4-1 win at Weymouth and praised the professionalism of the evergreen defender, stating: “Wardy is amazing and a real phenomenon! All our players take a leaf out of his book and he's always preparing for the next game immediately after the final whistle is blown. He's a good teacher for the younger lads and is as sharp now as he was when he was playing 15 or 16 years ago.”

Former Bishop's Stortford players Marlon Patterson and Lewis Smith are both cup-tied for this fixture, though their colleague Grant Cooper, who made the same move across Essex recently, is free to play. Matthew Lock returns after serving a one-match suspension and Glenn was delighted with Saturday's return to the team of Steven Clark and Michael Haswell who he rates as “two of the best full-backs in the league.”

Clark could potentially replace Mark Haines at right-back if he fails to recover from a minor foot injury sustained at Weymouth by accidentally kicking a corner flag. While the boss hopes the prospect doesn't miss out, he was able to see the funny side, revealing: “Hainesy picked-up a freak injury and has been getting stick from the lads! All except Ben Chenery, that is, because he once got laid out by a linesman's flag!”
