“I won't be making any knee jerk reactions, maybe 15 years ago I would have done as a youth team manager, but I think this is a time for calm.

“I've never looked forward more to a game than Saturday and, having seen the way the players have performed this week, I know they are the same.

“They have got a big point to prove - not only to our fans, but also to the football public in general.

“Up until last Saturday, I had a lot of people coming up to me and commenting on how well we were doing.

“A football season is like a boxer getting through a 15 round fight. You have to take a few punches along the way and, to be bluntly honest, we have just taken a 12 punch combo.

“They will want to rebound quickly from their defeat against Accrington and will probably think they have got a good chance after what has happened to us.

“We have to make sure we remember where we are in the table though and what has got us here in the first place.

“There are two ways of reacting. We can get depressed and panic, or we can stay calm, pick the bones out of the situation and analyse the stats.

“If you analyse the game - the shots on target, corners, who won the most 50/50s - we beat them on every stat apart from the one that counts and that's putting the ball in the net. That's when you have to throw the stats on the fire.

“We have to remember though was only three points we were playing for last week, not 90. I'm annoyed with my players at the moment, but hopefully by Saturday night I will be back in love with them again!
