GOAL-hungry Jamie Cureton believes that there is no limit to what Colchester United can achieve, once they have reached their first target of Championship survival.

Cureton boosted his tally for the season to 12 goals with an early brace in a 3-0 demolition of previously in-form Stoke. Richard Garcia headed home the third just after the hour.

This was the U's ninth home victory on the bounce, propelling them above Stoke and into the play-off zone. Sixth place in the Championship represents the highest position in the Essex club's history.

“There's no reason why we can't finish in the play-offs, although we have other things to achieve first,” insisted Cureton. “It's a great feeling to be sixth in the table, but the job is not done yet.

“We want to get to the magic 50 points as quickly as possible, and then see what we can achieve. Of course, we didn't expect to be sitting in sixth place before Christmas.

“We deserve a lot of credit. It's been no fluke. We all stick together, and we are not over-awed about playing against Premiership players.

“We're not considering the play-offs yet, but if we keep doing what we're doing, then why not? People don't like coming to Layer Road.”
