Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy hopes Teddy Bishop will play a part in the remaining games of the season but says fellow midfielder Kundai Benyu will remain with his loan club Aldershot.

Bishop has made only six starts and 13 sub appearances this season having missed virtually the whole of 2015/16 through a succession of injuries. The 20-year-old, who has recently been out of action with a groin problem, played the full 90 minutes today as Town’s U23s lost 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday at Playford Road.

“He’s a been a big loss to the team because he’s a good player,” said McCarthy. “He keeps getting fit and breaking down again. I haven’t got a magic wand to get him on the pitch, I’m afraid. I’d like to think he be involved again soon.”

Regarding Benyu, who scored twice for National League promotion-chasing side Aldershot on Saturday, McCarthy said: “He’s going to be left there to continue doing well.”
