Terry Hunt is still waiting to see his first Town goal of 2018. But he knows it’s his own fault!
So, I’m still waiting to see my first Ipswich Town goal of 2018. It’s my own stupid fault - I foolishly missed the Leeds game, when we scored our only home goal this year.
We were never going to score on Saturday, thanks to our manager setting up a team with no fewer than nine players whose first thought is all about defence.
The result was yet another non-event, with Waghorn and Celina hopelessly isolated up front.

The scoreline would have been the same if I had been in goal for Sheffield United.
Yet the manager declared himself satisfied with the result, and poured scorn on thoughts of taking the game to the visitors, thereby risking defeat.
Once more, McCarthy’s post-match comments demonstrate the vast gulf which has developed between him and a large majority of supporters.
I might be the only one, but in our current mid-table position, I would be delighted to see a rip-roaring game, full of attacking flair, goals, saves and chances. Yes, even if we lost.
Surely that has to be preferable to the utter non-event we suffered on Saturday.

Well, Sheffield United hit the post. Ummm...yep, that’s about it. It really was that dull.
It all encapsulates McCarthy’s mindset. Every point a prisoner. Ultra-pragmatic. Take no risks. Well, sometimes you have to take risks in football if you want to achieve.
Believe it or not, there are positives. Predictably, they are all defensive.
The back three of Chambers, Webster and Carter-Vickers looks rock-solid. Carter-Vickers, in particular, is an outstanding prospect. Any chance of signing him?
Finally, a word about Bart. Every Town fan will be delighted by his richly deserved call-up for Poland. The video which the club released showing a selection of his saves was just awe-inspiring.
Pretty well every one was simply world class. We love you, Bart. Without your brilliance, I hate to think where we would be.

Probably fighting to avoid the drop to the third tier.
So, we move on to the Hull game on Tuesday. Will I finally see a Town goal in 2018?
