Ipswich Town is a club at the crossroads, and the Portman Road hierarchy have some crucial decisions to make in the coming weeks.
It’s absolutely vital they get them right.
First and foremost, there’s the question of the manager. I really don’t think Mick McCarthy is correct when he suggests that only a minority of the Blues faithful are fed up with him.
From everything I see and hear, a large majority want him to go.

I also hear whispers that owner Marcus Evans is prepared to renew McCarthy’s contract.
For me, that would be a huge misjudgement. It would widen the gulf between club and supporters which has become so painfully apparent.
Town fans are famously patient, but we are bored with McCarthy’s ultra-pragmatic approach to the game.
We don’t expect our team to play like Barcelona, but the mostly turgid stuff we’ve had to put up with for the last three seasons has bored us to tears.
And you know the most frustrating thing of all?
We have the players in our squad to play exciting football, but the manager can’t bring himself to let them off the leash. Last Saturday at Preston was a classic. Thrilling first-half display, then take off your flying winger and shut up shop. That’s the McCarthy way, and lots of us have seen more than enough of it.
The other big decision is about season tickets.
Prices will be announced before the end of March, I understand. Let’s hope the club manages to avoid the huge own goal of last year. They simply must not put prices up. In fact, how about a gesture of appreciation for loyalty - a five per cent price cut. Wouldn’t that be good?
Which brings me back to the manager. Will the club announce McCarthy’s future before they ask for our season ticket money?
If they don’t, we won’t know what we’re paying for. Talk about blind loyalty!
I would renew whatever, and obviously there are thousands like me.
But if Mick McCarthy is still our manager next season, then I fear another 1,000 will turn their backs on his sterile football. Like I said, some big decisions.
