Division Four North East

Norwich Union III 2 Crane 2

This six pointer clash ended honours even after a hard fought game, with both sides playing some excellent hockey. Crane struck first against the run of play when Andy Bristow latched onto Ali Blacks ball down the left wing, cutting inside and striking into the far corner. Union then made their pressure show, scoring from a rebound after Crane players stopped expecting a whistle that didn't come. Crane went on the attack in the second half and looked strong for much of the half, Aiden Bloomfield causing all sorts of problems with his range of passing, backed up by Mark Campbell and Revan Jones as ball winners. Crane took the lead again when Bristow benefited from an extraordinary piece of defending, the goalkeeper kicking a dead ball back into play to Bristow who reacted quickest to run the ball back into the circle and fire Crane ahead with a confident finish. Union then had their strongest spell of the game, forcing several penalty corners, one of which was eventually scrabbled over the line to share the points.
