The first Premier League fixture between Ipswich and Leeds ended in a six goal thriller at Portman Road, with the likes of Eric Cantona and Gary Speed in the Leeds side.

Town took the lead in the 25th minute when Paul Goddard set up Chris Kiwmoya to put the Blues 1-0 up, before John Wark, playing on the right of the midfield for the first time, scored from a free-kick in the 36th minute, and then put Town 3-0 up when he scored his 50th penalty for the club just before the half-time interval.

Leeds got a goal back 10 minutes after the restart when future Town player Lee Chapman scored, before the late Gary Speed made it 3-2 when he scored in the 64th minute.
