PAT Tynan will once again be managing Capel Plough for tomorrow’s Touchline SIL Senior Division match at Haughley United.

Tynan, together with Archie Arnold, has been put in caretaker charge following the resignation of his brother Sean, after last Saturday’s 5-1 loss at Stanton.

Joint manager Steve O’Leary has also taken a step back due to work commitments as Capel, who are one place above the relegation zone, search for a new manager.

Pat, who is the club’s director of football, previously managed Capel Plough for four years, prior to spending five jointly running the side with Arnold apart from one season when work commitments saw Sean stand in.

Sean took over from brother Pat and Arnold after the opening game of last season, but now the roles have been reversed.

Pat said: “I have been heavily involved every week and will be taking over in a caretaker role while we look to get a replacement in.

We have got some hard games coming up and we are in a precarious position, just as we have been in the last year or so.

“We won’t be changing too much for Saturday. Although we lost 5-1 last Saturday with 15 minutes to go we were having the majority of the play, but mistakes then cost us the game.

“It will be the same group of players going out there trying to get a result, but I will try to gee them up as much as I can.”

Pat paid tribute to Sean when he said: “I know he is my brother, but Sean is a good manager and no-one could have done any better than him.

“We have got some good players in the club, but they don’t always win games.

“The difference is that when I was manager before we had a lot of experienced players who knew how to win games.”

Pat said that Sean had stepped aside due to a combination of work commitments, taking the team as far as he felt he could and his son Luke, who plays for the club’s under-15 side, being invited for trials at Football League clubs.

“We are a well-run club and make everyone very welcome. Sometimes we don’t make many friends, but we have made the best of what we have got and been in the Senior Division for 14 years.

“Ideally we are looking for someone experienced to take over, but not necessarily so if they are young and can attract a wider variety of players.”
