Chelmsford were unable to capitalise on their possession and made little goal scoring opportunities. In their first attack into the defending third of Chelmsford, Olton won a penalty corner from which they opened the scoring. The goal did little to change the play, with Olton defending against a Chelmsford side that were unable to construct many scoring chances.

After re-grouping at half time, Chelmsford began the second half in the same manner as the first - on the attack. Chelmsford became even more dominant after drawing level and looked the hungrier of the sides for a win. The inevitable second goal for Chelmsford came following a superb passing move between Lynn Bollington and Chloe Rogers, the latter having the task of putting the ball into Olton's goal.

Bowdon Hightown 1 Chelmsford 1

Following the Olton match, the team travelled north to Manchester knowing that their defence would be more severely tested against Bowdon Hightown who are the league's top scorers.

The match started at a frenetic pace, with Hightown unable to convert their penalty corners in the opening minutes. Chelmsford began to grow in confidence and began to put pressure on the Hightown defence.

For a period of ten minutes midway through the first half, Chelmsford controlled the match and the play was all in the half of the home side.

The stop for the half-time interval did nothing to change the pace of the game and the two sides continued to turn defence into attack. Chelmsford finally broke the deadlock when Ciara O'Brien was the first to react to a rebound from a Lisa Wooding strike on goal. O'Brien hit the resulting shot high into the net.

Hightown pushed players forwarded in an attempt to level the score and Chelmsford found themselves defending for much of the second half. Inevitably, the equaliser came for Hightown and the match finished a draw.

Having lost the previous two encounters between these sides, Chelmsford were much the happier team and are currently placed fifth in the Slazenger EHL Premier Division.
