The Felixstowe parkrun, the youngest parkrun in Suffolk, continues to go from strength to strength, as a field of 279 proved at Saturday’s sixth staging on the promenade.
Runners, joggers and walkers were greeted by early morning sunshine on the Suffolk coast, with participants of all ages tackling the flat 5K course.
Since this event started, on April 7, there have been fields of 443, 320, 288, 267, 303 and now 279 running each Saturday morning.
Experienced runner, Malcolm Muir, an over-40 vetran from Ilford AC, was first home on Saturday in a time of 17mins 46secs, which was more than a minute off the curent course best set by Felixstowe Road Runners’ Danny Rock (16:31) on week four.
Felixstowe RR’s Jon Glanfield was second (18:14) and Joe Watts, of East End RR, was third (18:22). Emma Drury was the first lady in 20:24, some off the female course best of 18:47, posted by Laura Thomas, again on week four.
