Every weekend there are hundreds of runners and walkers who take part in their first-ever parkrun, and Saturday’s Great Notley parkrun, held at Great Country Notley Park near Braintree, was no exception.
At least 17 from a bumper field of 313 participated in their first parkrun of any kind, at the 192nd staging of this two-lap 5K event.
Ewan Colyer, in the 10-year-old age bracket, celebrated his first parkrun with a time of 27mins 32secs, just two seconds ahead of another parkrun first-timer, Cameron Smith (26:34).
Morgan Way, Dave Allen, Dean Langdon, Joanne Watts, Rebecca Duff, Eldon Powell, Claire Kirsopp, Natalie Ward, Cameron Garvey, Michelle Woodall, Toni Langridge, Lisa Holland, Codie Holland, Luke Holland and David Hughes were others to complete their first parkruns.
At the head of the field, over-50 veteran Colin Lewin was first home in 18:47, ahead of David Stevens (19:25). Susana Luz was the first female finisher (24:40).
