Gary Taylor celebrated his 50th parkrun by leading home a field of 212 runners, joggers and walkers at the 288th Ipswich parkrun, held in bitterly cold conditions at Christchurch Park on Saturday morning.
A member of Felixstowe Road Runners, Taylor reached the finish in 18mins 16secs, ahead of Louis Suggett (18:26) and Harwich Runners’ Gary Parker (18:56).
Sarah Fitch made it a Felixstowe RR double by finishing the first female in 21:57, which was a personal best for the event. Ipswich JAFFA junior Freya Wilcox was second in 22:33, and Clare Gleave third (PB of 23:39). JAFFA teenager Shannon MacSephney was fourth in 24:14
David Solomon, another stalwart of Felixstowe RR, chalked up his 199th parkrun, and his 179th at Ipswich, with 21:56 in 19th place. Meanwhile, those enjoying their first-ever parkruns were Ben Grover, Paul Lombardi, Ben Way, Andrea Davis, Louise Allard, Craig Sharman and Victoria Leavett.
