In our daily feature, we take a look at what happened on this day in Ipswich Town’s history...
We begin today’s ‘on this day’ in 1985 as the Blues drew 2-2 with Newcastle at Portman Road with Michael Cole and Romeo Zondervan scoring for Town, while Town were held to a 0-0 draw with Leeds United at Portman Road in 1974.
In 2002, Pablo Counago scored twice as Town beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 at Portman Road to win their first home league game since the start of the season, while in 1991 the Blues drew 2-2 with Brighton at the Goldstone Ground.
And finally on this day in 1994, Town beat Ipswich Wanderers 7-3 at Humber Doucy Lane for their official floodlight opening.
