In our daily feature, we take a look at what happened on this day in Ipswich Town’s history...and today includes a look back to the time the Blues crushed current Premier League champs Manchester City!
We begin today 20 years ago when David Johnson scored Town’s only goal as the Blues beat Swindon Town 1-0 at Portman Road to win their third straight game in the 1998-99 season.
And it was on this day in 1987 that Neil Rimmer scored twice as the Blues beat Man City 3-0 at Portman Road to continue their unbeaten home record in the 1987-88 season, while in 1970, Town beat Stoke City 2-0 at Portman Road.
And finally on this day in 2009, Pablo Counago scored Town’s equaliser as the Blues drew 1-1 with Swansea City at Portman Road to make it 12 games without a win at the start of the 2009-10 season.
