In our daily feature, we take a look at what happened on this day in Ipswich Town’s history...
We begin today five years ago when Town allowed a 4-1 half-time lead slip as Derby County fought back to claim a 4-4 draw at Pride Park, while Town drew 1-1 with Barnsley at Portman Road in 1996 with Alex Mathie scoring Town’s goal.
In 2005, Darren Currie and Nicky Forster scored for the Blues as they beat Crewe 2-1 at Portman Road, while 10 years ago, David Lowe and Jason Dozzell were on target for the Blues as they beat West Brom 2-1 at The Hawthorns.
It was on this day in 2011 that Michael Chopra scored twice as Town beat Brighton 3-1 at Portman Road to make it five wins out of their first 10 league games in the 2011-12 season, while the Blues beat Newcastle 2-1 at Portman Road in 1977.
And finally, on this day in 1975, Town beat Feyenoord 2-0 at Portman Road to progress to the next second round of the UEFA Cup, thanks to goals from Clive Woods and Trevor Whymark.
