“While the cricket did not quite live up to expectations, the rest of the day was absolutely superb,” said match manager Geoff Newman, pictured.
“Our president, Ron Noyce, thoroughly enjoyed the occasion, but unfortunately his wife, Hazel, was not with him as usual, due to ill health.
“I would also like to thank Mick and Carol Oram of Elmstead, who made sure our day went perfectly on and off the field and also to the 40 to 50 supporters who came to watch.”
President's XI 151 (Philpott 30, Black 23, Abbott 3 for 28, Butcher 3 for 38, Marks 2 for 14). Two Counties 101 for 7 (Messent 30, Howell 22, Barlow 4 for 24, Southwell 2 for 15). Match drawn.
