SPECULATION that Spanish club Real Betis are after Pablo Counago was last night dismissed by Blues boss Joe Royle and the Town striker, writes Derek Davis.

Reports that La Liga side Real Betis are keen on Counago have resurfaced but Royle said: "We have not heard anything from them or anyone else regarding Pablo."

Counago hit two goals in the 6-1 win over Burnley on Tuesday, and made it clear he is not looking to move.

He said: "I have not heard anything about Real Betis and nor has my agent. There is nothing in it. I'm happy at Ipswich, I have a job to do here and I want to help my team-mates to keep winning and be in a position to win promotion."

The EADT reported last season that Counago, whose 19 goals made him the club's leading scorer, was being monitored by a number of Spanish and Portuguese clubs but none came forward during the transfer window.

Iberian newspapers have also been reporting Counago's progress but no clubs have made a move for the former Celta Vigo striker.
