TRIUMPHANT Swindon Town boss Paolo Di Canio entertained reporters, with tales of fresh fish and presents for players, following his side’s 1-0 win at Colchester United on Saturday.

The desperately disappointing U’s were decidedly second best, and can have no complaints about being knocked out of the FA Cup by Matt Ritche’s 59th minute strike.

Swindon have drawn Premier League Wigan Athletic at home in the third round, although Di Canio only heard this news second hand.

“I won’t be watching the cup draw,” insisted Di Canio,

“I will read my text messages instead. We have a training session in the morning, and then I feel a hunger for fish, fresh fish.

“I haven’t eaten fresh fish for three months. And I mean fish, not a fish supper!”

Italian charmer Di Canio also revealed his intention to give Ritchie a surprise present, if the young midfielder reaches a set goal target this term.

“He’s (Ritchie’s) got seven goals,” continued Di Canio.

“I told him at the beginning of the season that if you score over 12 goals, I will give you a present. But I won’t tell him what.

“Maybe for this I am in trouble, because perhaps sometimes he doesn’t pass the ball to his team-mates!

“Maybe I need to set him a challenge of making 10 assist goals, to give him another present,” added Di Canio.
