Paul Hurst says there has been little progress regarding loan moves in or out of Portman Road.

With the window for permanent transfers now closed, EFL clubs can still loan players in and out until the end of the month, with Ipswich likely to be busy on both fronts.

Hurst has targeted new recruits, while he is also considering sending the likes of Andre Dozzell and Tristan Nydam out on temporary deals.

The Blues boss says each destination will be carefully picked, though, with the moves designed to benefit the young players’ development.

“It’s too early I think – I’ve not had any calls on that personally at least,” Hurst said regarding potential loan moves.

“I’m sure there will be.

“It’s also ultimately about who’s interested.

“If a Conference South club comes in for Tristan, with all due respect that’s not something we’re going to look at.

“So each one will be looked at individually and we’ll try and make the best decision.

“This isn’t about bringing money back into the club to try and spend elsewhere, we’re looking at the development and seeing if we can get them playing at a good level which will benefit the player and us as a football club.”

Work is still ongoing regarding potential incomings, with Hurst revealing at the weekend that he would ideally like to bring in three loan players but currently only has two slots available.

The Blues currently have three players on loan (Trevoh Chalobah, Janoi Donacien and Tayo Edun) with only five permitted in a matchday squad.

However, there is a provision for Donacien’s temporary move to become full-time outside of the now-closed permanent transfer window.

“No, not over the weekend because that’s been left aside to concentrate on the cup game,” Hurst said when asked if there had been any progress.

“But there’s still work going on and conversations to be had over the coming days.

“I’m open minded and I don’t want to narrow the market to only Premier League loans so we’ll just do what we feel is best and look at all our options.”
