COLCHESTER'S poor season came to end with a disappointing defeat away at Pelicans. Colchester went into the match knowing that only a win would give them the slenderest of chances of avoiding relegation.

The hosts started the game well and didn't have to wait long before taking the lead, a Pelicans' forward firing a lethal snapshot into the bottom corner. Colchester were trying to play some nice hockey and were getting some joy down the right through Richard Sexton. Sexton had the beating of his man and was able to created chances. Colchester's best chance of the half falling to Rohan Khaira who missed a Penalty Corner chance after the ball had been slipped back to him.

Pelicans had their second and third goals before half time, to leave Colchester's survival hopes in tatters.

Colchester came out for the second half looking to get back into the game, however in keeping with the season, Colchester were unable to take any of the chances they created.

Pelicans killed off the game with two more goals which leaves Colchester facing life in Division One next season.

Hills Residential Man of The Match was Richard Sexton for his great attacking down the Colchester right.
