COLCHESTER United striker Chris Iwelumo rounded off a perfect start to September by celebrating the birth of his second child with a crucial goal in the 2-1 win at Burnley on Saturday.
Iwelumo slotted home a 53rd minute penalty to put the U's two-up at Turf Moor. It was the big Scotsman's second penalty success in consecutive matches, following his goal from the spot in the previous victory over Derby.
The U's target man is on the crest of a wave at the moment following the birth of his second daughter, Novia, last Friday week.
“It's been a fantastic last week or so for me. I can have no complaints!” Iwelumo said.
“Now I have a double celebration with me scoring in another win for Colchester.
“I know it was from the penalty spot, but I'll take anything that's going at the moment.”
The birth of Novia was particularly sweet for Iwelumo, and his wife Bianca, because of the complications surrounding the birth of his first daughter Prisais, who was born 12 weeks early.
She was not expected to survive, and the couple were not expected to be able to have another child.
However, Prisais is fit and healthy, and now has a younger sister.
